For the past few years, we’ve pushed ourselves harder—heavier riffs, more intricate songwriting, and a vision that’s grown beyond what we ever expected. No Place for the Damned was the turning point. It was bigger, darker, and more intense than anything TANTRUM had done before. And with every step forward, one thing became clear: TANTRUM no longer fit who we are. This band has evolved. Our sound has evolved. Now, it’s time for the name to evolve.
We started with 96 potential names, narrowing it down to just two. We had one very clear winner: PYROCLAST
Baz, said: “A pyroclast is an unstoppable force, creating something new from something old. That’s exactly what we are. We love classic, melodic heavy metal, but want to blend that with the darker heaviness of thrash that sweeps all before it.”
It’ll take some time for the name to fully propagates across all platforms – Spotify, Bandcamp, the website, and social media, but we’re hoping things will settle sooner rather than later.
In the meantime, we’re already working on new material, with a four-track EP (perhaps even five) that we plan to release in the next few months.
Finally, thank you. Your support for TANTRUM meant everything to us, and we hope you’ll stand with us as we begin this new chapter as PYROCLAST.
