Fractured State
£15.00
Clocking in at around 44 minutes (so you didn’t have to buy two separate vinyls this time), Fractured State opens with the explosive title track “Pyroclast,” setting the tone with a relentless surge of volcanic force and destruction. “Slaughterhouse” follows with a darker, more insidious edge, exploring deception and the horrors that hide beneath a mask of kindness.
“Break the Tide” shifts the focus inward, a defiant battle against inner turmoil and the weight of unseen struggles, before the psychological intensity deepens with “Prisoner Game,” a reflection on control, identity, and the fragile line between authority and submission.
“Brought by a Flame” expands the scope into something more mythic and cinematic, telling the story of a traveller whose actions unknowingly shape the fate of a civilisation. That sense of discovery continues with “Beneath the Beyond,” a journey into the unknown where belief, truth, and obsession begin to blur.
“Ozymandias” draws on themes of legacy and decay, reminding us that even the mightiest empires are ultimately reduced to dust. The album closes with “Erebus & Terror,” the band’s longest track to date at around nine-and-a-half minutes… an epic, harrowing account of the doomed Franklin expedition, bringing the record to a powerful and haunting conclusion.
